Small Gym, Big Stage: MCC Takes on The DII Summit May 10-11

The D2 Summit is one of the most prestigious competitions in all-star cheerleading—specifically for small gyms like ours. In Varsity’s world, Division 2 means having 125 elite athletes or fewer, giving programs like ours the chance to compete on a level playing field. Hosted at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida, the D2 Summit brings together the best of the best in small gym all-star cheer. It’s more than a championship—it’s a proving ground, a celebration, and for many programs, a dream years in the making.

Here’s the thing: our gym hasn’t competed at the D2 Summit in years—since 2019. And we've never had a team make it to finals at the event. Back then, we were building something special but still in the early chapters. This season, something changed. Our teams have been getting stronger, more focused, and more resilient. The work behind the scenes has been intense. And then… cheer TikTok noticed.

Let’s just say, some started predicting us to podium at the event this year. That kind of recognition is surreal. For a gym that’s never even broken into finals nor competed at D2 Summit in since 2019, it’s both exhilarating—and honestly? A little overwhelming.

Because while we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we’re also very aware of the pressure that comes with outside expectations. We don’t have a legacy at D2 Summit. We’re not a name people usually bet on. But that’s what makes this moment so powerful.

We’re walking into this event with humble hearts and high hopes. We’re not chasing perfection—we’re chasing progress. We’ve worked for this. We’ve grown for this. And finally, we’ve earned our shot.

This isn’t the end of a story. It’s the beginning of a new chapter—for our program, for our athletes, and for anyone watching who dares to believe that small gyms can do big things.
